Scientists Preparing For Alien Contact

The University of St. Andrews in Scotland recently announced that it would be creating a new research hub with the intention of reuniting the “most intelligent minds” in the world to prepare humankind for extraterrestrial contact in the future.

The research hub goes by the name of “Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence” (SETI) Post Detection-Hub. It has the intention of acting as common ground for specialists to formulate a way to answer aliens if they decide to communicate with humanity (or the other way around) someday.

NASA announced early in 2022 that they had updated a new message to reach out to intelligent life in outer space. However, what would be our next action if they reply?

This hub intends to create an internationally-agreed procedure if this situation ever becomes a reality.

As of now, the SETI community has agreed upon a few rules, as reported by the SETI Institute’s “Declaration of Principles Concerning the Conduct of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.”

Still, the rules established are quite ambiguous and unclear. The SETI Post-Decoction Hub is expected to expand on them soon.
