What is the secret to a long life? Good genes, good food, fresh air, good geographical location, or more time spent with family and friends?

Here are the places that have discovered the secret of longevity.

Hong Kong

Although it is one of the most densely populated and polluted areas in China, the average life expectancy in Hong Kong is 83 years. Older people in this area pay special attention to daily martial arts exercises, such as tai chi, which improves the cardiovascular system. They stick to a balanced diet of stewed vegetables, rice, and plenty of hydration with many medicinal herbal teas. Hong Kong also has excellent healthcare.

Iceland

The average life expectancy is 83.1 years. Icelanders are one of the happiest people on the planet, which is why they contribute to low levels of crime and stress among the population. Iceland is the third healthiest country in the world and therefore contributes to the simple diet of the locals – fresh seafood, seasonal organic products, and meat and milk from grass-fed cows. The recipe for longevity is complemented by the large number of hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties.

San Marino

San Marino is one of the 30 richest countries in the world in terms of per capita income. There is a lack of financial insecurity among locals and unemployment is low. The average life expectancy is 83.1 years, which is helped by the clean mountain air, beautiful nature, and the Mediterranean diet – handmade pasta, local products, fresh fish, and occasionally meat. Agriculture is a major economic sector in the country – many farms produce corn, wheat, grapes, and olives.

Macau

The region’s thriving casino industry makes Macau extremely rich. Financial security allows locals to avoid stress and afford a healthy lifestyle, with an average life expectancy of 84.6 years. Family relationships are deeply rooted in Macau. Elders are respected and cared for, which helps keep people healthier and happier during their golden years. The main task of the elderly in Macau is to take care of their grandchildren.

Singapore

Life expectancy has increased along with growing economic prosperity, with an average life expectancy of 85.2 years. Older people are valued as leaders of their families and communities, which helps them feel needed and valued. Singapore has excellent healthcare, which focuses on therapeutic and preventive care that contributes to a longer and healthier life.

Japan

The average life expectancy in Japan is 85.3 years. The locals have very healthy daily habits, such as gardening, growing medicinal herbs, and spending time in social circles. Their diet is based on healthy foods such as sweet potatoes and tofu, and meat consumption is limited. The island of Okinawa is defined as the place with the most centenarians in the world and the most women who have reached this age. An impressive 740 out of 1.3 million people are over 100 years old and 90% of them are women.

Monaco

Monaco is the second smallest country in the world but has the highest life expectancy – 89.4 years. Like Italy, Greece, and Spain, people here follow a Mediterranean diet. The locals are religious, pay special attention to the family and spend a lot of time relaxing outdoors – probably on yachts in Monte Carlo.
