Hannie Heere, a Dutch photographer, was taking photos of barn owls and captured this adorable shot showing a baby barn Owl running across the grass.
Heere was shooting on May 28th, 2021 when she saw a small owl chick. It is covered with fluffy white down and as the bird matures it is replaced by feathers. At seven weeks old, barn owlets begin flapping their wings. They then make short, controlled flights around the nest every eight weeks. By 10 weeks, they are competent flyers and look more like adult barn owls.
Baby owls must develop their muscles before they can fly. This particular baby owl apparently had decided to go for a run instead of learning to fly.
The photo was taken with a Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR, a Canon 70 200mm f/2.8L IS Lens at f/8 and ISO 200.
After Heere posted the photo online, it became somewhat popular and has been shared widely across social media and as memes.
She says that photography is a hobby for her, but she wants to make it a career.
