Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta (previously known as Facebook), recently revealed the new avatar for the company’s so-called “Metaverse.” However, despite the company’s efforts, the aesthetics don’t convince anyone.
Meta holds a virtual reality conference every year. This time, Zuckerberg gave an update regarding the company’s own Metaverse, and it looks like a character taken from a game from the early 3D consoles.

One of the main differences between this model and the older one is that the new avatar has legs. However, that doesn’t make it any better.

Meta’s avatars were subject to jokes for a long time due to their lack of legs and overall creepiness. According to a report by the New York Times, the memes had “frustrated” Zuckerberg to the point that the new avatar is fast-tracked.
Meta reportedly invested about $10 billion only last year trying to polish its Metaverse. However, the company still doesn’t have that much to show and leaves a lot to be desired.
While the company tried to make the new avatars as visually appealing as possible, it seems like they still have a long way to go, as they look like characters from an old video game.
It’s still unclear to people the direction that Zuckerberg wants for his Facebook Metaverse. Right now, the updates don’t seem to convince the general public, and the company continues to spend billions.
