The HT-A5000 is an impressive 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos-capable soundbar that can be expanded with optional surround speakers and subwoofer for a more immersive home cinematic experience.

Incorporating Chromecast for seamless streaming from Apple Airplay 2 Spotify Connect and Google Assistant voice control functionality. A great addition to most living rooms.

As opposed to Sony’s flagship A7000 soundbar, which offers more speakers and higher wattage, this is a more compact and affordable soundbar without compromising on quality for the price.

It comes equipped with three S-Force Pro drivers – two up-firing Dolby Atmos speakers for height effects; as well as dual subwoofers to enhance bass performance.

Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine technology helps position sound in vertical space for an immersive 3D effect, providing atmospheric and realistic movie soundtracks without individual tone controls or custom audio profiles. Instead, there are a few preset modes such as night and voice modes available.

One of the many attractive aspects of the HT-A5000 is its ease of use and integration with compatible BRAVIA TVs.

You can access its setup menu through an onscreen menu display on the TV, while an automatic room calibration process takes only minutes to complete. Furthermore, soundbar settings can also be managed from within its remote.

As an added benefit, the HT-A5000 is compatible with Dolby Vision and HDR10 content as well as offering HDMI 2.1 passthrough with 4K@120Hz support. Furthermore, this device features both USB and optical inputs along with an S-CENTER OUT connection to support compatible BRAVIA models.

The HT-A5000 soundbar is an exquisite work of design. With an omnidirectional block design that reflects its surroundings and sophisticated rounded edges that emphasize natural compatibility with any living room environment. Available in white or black finishes and featuring integrated cable management to keep cords out of sight.

While its included remote is rather subpar in appearance and usability is compromised due to integration into TV’s Quick Settings menu; HDMI-CEC also enables control of certain functions such as volume.

Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Max is a premium soundbar designed to provide an immersive surround experience without the need for rear speakers or subwoofers.

Utilizing 13 high-end drivers to form a 5.1.4 channel system with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MPEG-H (an object-based audio format popular among Asian audiences), advanced microphones for room calibration as well as an impressive smart control app, it offers users an engaging immersive surround experience without breaking the bank.

As a single unit, soundbars are less complicated to set up than traditional home theater systems and do a better job at filling an entire room than some options with dedicated upfiring speakers.

Unfortunately, positioning such units requires careful consideration of where your TV sits in relation to room size and TV placement in general; using Sennheiser mic-driven calibration can help compensate for irregularly shaped rooms or cluttered spaces; yet care must still be taken not to obscure or block your television screen when positioning one.

One of the AMBEO Soundbar Max’s hallmark capabilities is its outstanding ability to reproduce natural, full-bodied speech.

When watching Alien: Covenant, Guy Pearce’s deep baritone was reproduced with texture and depth that rivals that of many home cinema systems. Furthermore, its spacious soundstage can deliver rich bass sounds if desired.

Noteworthy is AMBEO’s 3D mode, which re-mixes music so it seems as though it is emanating from all sides. Although this feature may not work with every song and can sometimes be unreliable, it provides an exciting listening experience and adds something different to its functionality.

The AMBEO features numerous physical inputs, such as HDMI pass-through, eARC, 3.5mm AUX, and RCA analog stereo inputs. It can be powered through either wired or wireless connections and boasts built-in Bluetooth for mobile devices.

Featuring an elegant, minimalist design with its brushed metal finish and sleek yet minimalist profile – perfect for modern decor – as well as its USB charging port and firmware updates, its powerful functionality has won rave reviews from users worldwide.

Sony HT-A7000

  • 360 Spatial Sound that adapts to your environment available with optional rear speakers
  • Sound Field Optimization calibrates to your environment for easy set up
  • Immersive Audio Enhancement converts regular audio to near 7.1.2 Ch
  • Vivid visuals and fast paced game play with 8K and 4K/120 passthrough

The Sony HT-A7000 soundbar is an impressive piece designed to pair perfectly with Sony’s top-of-the-line televisions.

Featuring two up-firing height speakers and a five-inch woofer for deep bass sound, as well as Alexa integration, AirPlay 2 support, Spotify Connect capabilities, and its onscreen setup process that guides users from placement through automatic calibration (even to your room if additional surround speakers are chosen)

Although the A7000 offers many great qualities, it does have some drawbacks. First and foremost, its price may be overstated given that it does not include rear surround speakers or subwoofers.

Second is its length – potentially not ideal for smaller television screens; and finally, dialogue-oriented content may not be reproduced as clearly due to not enough voice clarity being reproduced during dialogue-intensive scenes.

However, this bar remains an extremely capable device.

It supports numerous audio formats over HDMI such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD High Resolution, and DTS:X as well as optical and analog inputs, USB playback with Sony’s LDAC codec for music playback as well as Acoustic Center Sync feature for compatibility Bravia TVs that serves as center channel.

A7000 features a cavern on its rear for all inputs, complete with power outlets and an HDMI eARC port for convenient operation.

The final connection enables you to use the bar with any Sony television equipped with an eARC port and to take advantage of automatic tone mapping optimization and auto-genre mode switching for PlayStation 5 console.

Sony offers its RS3S rear surround speakers and optional SW5 subwoofer to provide more cinematic sound, though you will have to pay extra for these options.

In addition, the A7000 also comes equipped with an intuitive remote and user interface that makes using it straightforward, whether on its own or with a TV. Amazon Alexa devices work too; though AUX-SYNC adapters must be purchased separately if you wish to pair yours.

The LG Sound Bar S95QR is an elegant Dolby Atmos soundbar equipped with plenty of advanced features.

It decodes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and IMAX Enhanced soundtracks while offering Hi-Res Audio support, built-in Alexa support, and USB access for music playback from personal NAS drives or PCs; wirelessly connects via AirPlay 2 or Chromecast connectivity and Spotify Connect; plus it even comes equipped with its own set of speakerphones to stream local radio stations!

There are also plenty of helpful features, like a dedicated gaming mode to enhance the immersive gaming experience, automatic volume control, and a variable refresh rate to reduce lag for low-latency gameplay. Plus, this system pairs seamlessly with LG TVs to deliver 4K HDR content without needing an external receiver!

Sound quality is unparalleled, featuring clear vocals with dynamic range and impressive surround effects. There’s only a minor imbalance between bass and treble frequencies, easily corrected using built-in EQ settings.

Dialog clarity is great; though you might require adjustments if watching television drama or listening to news and podcasts frequently.

This expensive soundbar, but the S95QR is an extremely capable performer and currently the best available on the market. It competes against its similar-priced Samsung HW-Q950T rival which tends to sound more neutral out-of-the-box but gets louder once powered up; but unlike this model, it lacks VRR functionality but does feature more accurate Dolby Atmos with five upfiring speakers instead.

Choose between various sound modes (standard, cinema, sports, and games) as well as custom settings that let you tailor sound specifically to your own personal taste.

Plus, configure auto volume settings, EQ support, and IMAX Enhanced support as desired for optimal viewing experience.

There are plenty of connectivity options, with HDMI ARC/eARC and optical inputs, both supporting HDR and Dolby Vision; one can handle 4K/60Hz gaming with Auto Low Latency Mode; while a USB port enables accessing music files stored on hard drives or NAS and Hi-Res Audio for enhanced detail and natural acoustics.

Bose finally entered the 3D spatial audio scene with their Smart Soundbar 900, the first all-in-one Dolby Atmos (DA) soundbar they have ever created, and an excellent example of why 3D spatial sound is worthy of upgrading your TV’s audio.

But for full enjoyment of the Dolby Atmos experience, you will require both content, an enabled television, and this soundbar!

The Bose 900 comes in both black and white versions, featuring an all-glass design that complements TVs 50 inches or larger with elegance.

There is little embellishment on the bar beside its Bose logo and two touch-sensitive buttons – one to activate voice assistant and another muting microphone; plus there is a slim LED indicator that glows different colors to indicate its status.

Inside this slim chassis are nine drivers: four oval-shaped 4-x 2-inch full-range transducers that provide left, right, and center channel audio; as well as one 1-inch tweeter.

Two up-firing 4-x 2-inch oval dipole transducers bounce Dolby Atmos height cues off of the ceiling to simulate a virtual surround sound effect without needing separate ceiling speakers; this system is powered by a 480W class-D amplifier.

During our tests, the soundbar produced loud and clear dialogue while also providing crisp low-frequency sounds – like those heard when Thor landed in Wakanda from Avengers: Infinity War; raindrops falling onto the ceiling had little visceral punch; however Billie Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” by contrast had full and rich tones.

The 900 is easy to set up and integrates seamlessly with any home entertainment ecosystem, supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, multiroom play, and HDMI eARC connectivity for TV.

A second cable recess provides access to an ADAPTiQ wired bass module, data, and an infrared transmitter; in January 2022 there will also be an Ethernet port and USB socket – making this perfect for Android users who must currently rely on Bose Music apps alone to control multiroom streaming options.

  • With Alexa, playing music is as simple as asking for a song, artist, or genre from Amazon music and more

The YAS-209 provides an instant upgrade to your TV without requiring you to purchase an external subwoofer.

Its vertical surround engine adds height, while its center channel accentuates dialogue so you feel as if you’re immersed in the action. Plus, this sound bar supports DTS:X, 4K HDR passthrough, and AirPlay 2, making it perfect for smart home audio setups.

Although it doesn’t come equipped with a wireless subwoofer, as is typically found with soundbars in this price range, it makes up for its lack of a wireless subwoofer by offering multiple wired connections and impressive connectivity features.

On its back panel are HDMI ARC and USB ports which make connecting devices such as Blu-ray players or video game consoles – as well as your TV itself – effortless. Plus, thanks to HDMI-CEC support you can even control it using your TV remote control!

Design-wise, the YAS-209 keeps its design understated with an understated chassis that complements modern flat-screen TVs.

The rolling grille and gunmetal grey finish add a contemporary aesthetic, while all controls for power, input selection, and volume level adjustment are conveniently housed at its top surface. You can even wall-mount this slim unit for convenience!

When it comes to movie performance, the Yamaha YAS-209 impresses with its punchy and dynamic output; however, its subtly dynamic builds are less apparent than some of its rivals.

Center channel dialogue performance was satisfactory but tonal consistency could have been improved upon further; overall movie performance could also use improvement.

if you’re searching for an economical soundbar to complement your Sony Bravia TV, the Yamaha YAS-209 may be just what you need.

Equipped with Dolby Atmos support and DTS Virtual:X to deliver an immersive sonic experience, its powerful subwoofer delivers deep bass for rich sound quality while its compact size easily fits in front of most TVs while Bluetooth technology lets you stream music wirelessly – plus, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility allows voice control!

  • Breeze through setup with only two cables, step-by-step guidance from the Sonos app, and smart Trueplay...

The Sonos Beam Gen 2 is an affordable solution to upgrade any TV, offering enhanced audio quality at an attractive size and price point.

Capable of playing Dolby Atmos content as well as supporting 4K at up to 120Hz HDMI standards, it can connect with other Sonos speakers such as the compact Beam Mini or powerful Beam Arc for a seamless surround system – the Beam is also capable of handling Dolby Surround when combined with Sub and Ikea Symfonisk bookshelf speakers as rear surround speakers for rear surround sound effects!

The Beam Gen 2 may not offer a true Atmos experience, but its array of speakers and smart audio processing envelop you from front to back and around on all sides for a fantastic listening experience that far outshone its price point. One of the top soundbars available today!

As with the original Beam, the Gen 2 Beam is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2, enabling you to access music, podcasts, and other audio from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Furthermore, this speaker can connect to other Sonos speakers for multiroom audio setup and will soon support Amazon Music Ultra HD which offers lossless 24-bit/48kHz streaming.

Installation is straightforward with the Beam’s app prompting you to stream from your chosen source in just seconds or so. If your phone features NFC technology, simply wave the Beam over any section of the screen displayed by the app; it will then customize its sound output according to your space and optimize sofa position for an ideal experience.

As with its predecessor, Beam Gen 2 features capacitive touch playback controls on top, along with a button to mute its built-in voice assistant mics and HDMI, ethernet, and power socket ports on its back for connectivity.

Black or white color options are available, with perforated front panels making this version slightly sleeker than its predecessor at 2.75 pounds overall yet still feeling sturdy and well-balanced.

This ultra-slim soundbar is an affordable upgrade for Dolby Atmos, featuring seven built-in drivers with two upward-firing drivers for immersive overhead effects, while others fire forward and downward for front channel dialogue and surround sound.

When combined with its included wireless subwoofer, the Polk Audio Signa S4 proves impressive when used together – you can use your TV remote to control it all; setup is quick; simply plug its main unit into an ARC HDMI port on the TV, start listening immediately, switch between listening modes effortlessly – great quality!

Movie mode amps up the surround sound experience while Music mode focuses on vocal clarity in front channels and emphasizes front channels. Night mode features bass reduction to reduce disturbance for sleepers or flatmates.

Night mode could use some additional tweaking such as virtual EQ tweaking capabilities found with more expensive devices such as Vizio M512a or Sonos Beam.

The Polk Signa S4 offers Dolby Atmos for immersive sound quality even with standard stereo content, making it a fantastic choice for music lovers and offering support for various musical genres.

We tested this out using Sunnyboys song Alone With You which features swirling guitars and central tenor vocals; when tested against other systems it proved clear and crisp with no discernable distortion or noise, reproducing all subtleties of vocals and guitars that other systems struggled with reproducing.

The Polk Audio Signa S4 is an ideal upgrade for anyone tired of their television’s subpar built-in speakers, providing easy setup and sound that’s spectacular for its price point.

Though lacking many bells and whistles, this streamlined unit sounds amazing for its cost and simplifies home setup compared to multiple satellite speakers – perfect if you want a Dolby Atmos upgrade or looking to replace outdated TV speakers altogether!
