LG’s 2022 flagship soundbar, the S95QR is packed with all of the features one would expect for an immersive entertainment experience.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X (including IMAX Enhanced) support make for a remarkable cinematic experience, along with support for Dolby Digital, DTS-HD Master Audio formats as well as an optical port supporting LPCM formats.
In addition, two HDMI inputs support Dolby Vision/HDR video content as well as HDMI eARC output compatible TVs for additional audio/video experience.
The setup of the S95QR is simple; just plug it in and follow its on-screen instructions to connect it to both your TV and home Wi-Fi network. The soundbar then automatically displays its wireless connectivity status on its display screen.
For added control over volume, presets, equalizer settings, and general settings as well as Bluetooth/HDMI eARC connections via its physical remote it includes volume control buttons as well as volume preset buttons on its physical remote control unit.
Though designed for LG TVs, the S95QR stands up well with most other types of television sets as well. With its slim profile that doesn’t obstruct flatscreen displays, and dimensions of 47.2 x 2.5 x 5.3 inches (making it suitable for 55 to 65-inch displays).
In addition to multi-room and Dolby Atmos capabilities, the S95QR comes equipped with Chromecast and AirPlay 2 support and can also play high-resolution music files via compatibility with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio formats.
Furthermore, popular streaming music services like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Google Play Music are supported; plus there’s even an exclusive music mode from Meridian designed to transform stereo music into an immersive listening experience!
The audio quality of the S95QR’s soundbar is excellent, both when watching movies and listening to music. The surround sound is clear and crisp while its subwoofer adds impressive depth.
Furthermore, this system excels at isolating voices from background noise which is particularly beneficial in living room applications. There may be some distortion at higher volumes but that should be expected with most loudspeakers.

The Samsung HW-Q800B soundbar is a high-performance solution, perfect for immersive cinematic experiences. Featuring impressive bass response and customizable audio settings to offer the optimal listening experience possible.
Compatible with Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, DTS 5.1ch DTS HD Master Audio LPCM 8ch audio formats plus several streaming services like Netflix Amazon Prime & Spotify it offers a comprehensive listening experience.
HW-Q800B packs 11 speakers into its powerful system to deliver an engaging audio experience, ideal for action movies and video games. Upgrade to Dolby Atmos by adding additional surround speakers.
Its up-firing drivers provide immersive virtual spatialisation, while impressive bass response adds further immersion.
As with other modern soundbars, the HW-Q800B comes equipped with multiple connectivity options.
These include an HDMI input with eARC support that connects your TV and other devices; optical input; Bluetooth connectivity with a latency of 180ms; streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music, and Google Play Music as well as 4K video with HDR10 support are supported as well.
The HW-Q800B is fully Dolby Atmos-certified and features premium audio enhancement features like SpaceFit Sound Gen II room calibration for automatic room adaptation without needing a compatible Samsung TV – making this soundbar stand out from previous generations which required you to own a QLED TV to take advantage of it.
The HW-Q800B is an impressive performer, but there are some limitations that prevent it from topping our list.
Notably, its lack of crisp and attacking sound quality and lack of forceful effects production prevent it from outranking top performers such as Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 3. Regardless, the HW-Q800B remains an excellent option for anyone seeking to upgrade their audio experience.

Sonos Beam Gen 2 provides immersive audio that will enhance your television-watching, gaming, and music-listening experience.
Equipped with a powerful built-in center channel, tweeters, and subwoofer, this soundbar delivers immersive sound for an enjoyable TV-watching, gaming, or listening experience.
Equipped with Dolby Atmos compatibility for an enhanced audio experience by letting sounds from above come through.
Bluetooth compatibility; voice assistant support is another added advantage; as is Bluetooth, ARC HDMI compatibility; optical, aux, and USB connectivity to make accessing entertainment options; Bluetooth capability makes navigation easy while offering multiple methods when it comes to connecting external devices to it; additionally it comes equipped with power connector and wall mount bracket to ease cable management!
The Sonos Beam Gen 2 features an attractive design that matches most modern television sets, featuring capacitive touch controls on its front panel.
These controls give users access to basic functions like volume and playback; its power/status light and special HDMI inset are the only other physical inputs on this speaker, which comes in white to complement most Sonos speakers like Roam.
Sonos includes color-matched HDMI cables as well as an optical digital-to-HDMI adapter in its compact, sustainably packed package.
Setup for Sonos Beam is straightforward; simply plug it into an HDMI port equipped with an ARC-compliant HDMI port on your television, then pair it with the Sonos app for iPhone/iPad/Android or Mac and pair it with Wi-Fi network to stream music from Spotify, Apple Music, and Bluetooth devices – while its low latency via ARC or optical will ensure audio matches video perfectly on TV screens.
If you wish to expand the Beam into a full 7.1 channel system, additional Sonos speakers of either type (Beam or Beam 2) may be added as surrounds.
It should be noted, however, that only one voice assistant at a time may be used with it due to a lack of upfiring speakers that enable Dolby Atmos effects; otherwise, the virtualization of surrounds might not be as efficient.
Yamaha Audio SR-C20A
- Built-in subwoofer and passive radiators for surprising bass
- Clear Voice for enhanced dialogue clarity
- Bluetooth streaming for your music and podcasts
- Simple setup with HDMI, optical or aux connections
- Wall-mountable with built-in keyholes
This slim Yamaha soundbar is one of the top sound bars for LG TV under $1000, and offers impressively finished craftsmanship – most surfaces are covered in acoustic cloth, and plastics possess that satisfying solidity you find with quality products from an experienced company.
Additionally, it sounds good; whether streaming The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” over Bluetooth or playing “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” on PS4, its depth, focus, and clarity surpass most TVs even at higher volumes.
Once your audio content has reached the SR-C20A, it’s handled by two forward-facing 4.6cm full-range drivers powered by 20W of Class D amplification each. Furthermore, there’s also a 7.5cm subwoofer mounted at the top of the bar that delivers impressive bass response from such a compact device.
The C20A doesn’t stand out with extra features – Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support being notable among them – but it does feature four optimal sound modes designed to match up with different types of media content: Stereo is ideal for music listening; Standard works best for TV shows; Movie adds space to the soundstage while Clear Voice makes hearing human voices easier.
Like most all-in-one sound bars, the SR-C20A is easy to set up and will instantly enhance the quality of your LG TV.
Simply connect either its included optical cable or wirelessly tether it directly to your display and it’s ready to go – there is even a keyhole wall mount design included so installation remains clean and uncomplicated.
While not as feature-packed as its larger brother SR-B20A, that makes it more affordable without hidden surprises that could make you regret purchasing it later; its included remote is also quite useful – its controls make sense unlike its app counterparts which may sometimes not do when controlling apps can become disorganized or disfunctional over time if used as intended by its creators!

The Denon Home Sound Bar 550 is an exceptional all-in-one system, capable of both big-sounding music and immersive movies.
The build quality is exceptional and has a stylish streamlined design; speakers are protected by tight cloth grilles while being completely sealed off to protect them from dust and debris build-up. Perfect for wall mount or tabletop use.
HEOS offers an impressive collection of online and offline features designed to improve media playback.
Its app is user-friendly, enabling easy management of soundbar settings as well as providing access to an assortment of EQ presets that allow for room customization – such as Pure Sound mode for providing balanced and natural audio output; similarly, its Dolby Music mode boasts detailed reproduction of vocals and musical instruments while its Dolby Digital mode delivers rich reproduction of movie soundtracks but with less bass response thump for impactful audio experience than its counterpart.
Even with its diminutive dimensions, the Home Sound Bar 550 delivers an outstanding Dolby Atmos and DTS:X experience. This makes it ideal for TVs up to 55in; larger displays require additional speakers and subwoofer for optimal use.
Dialogue can sometimes be less than clear due to a lack of central speaker support while passive radiators struggle with providing deep bass foundation, but when used alongside appropriate hardware it still creates an immersive and tall soundstage experience for movies.
Home Sound Bar 550 stands out from its competition by coming equipped with Amazon Alexa built-in, offering hands-free control of media playback and smart home devices.
Once granted permission, voice commands can be used to change volume levels or input selection on TV or other connected devices. Furthermore, low latency via ARC, Optical, and Full HDMI In means there should be no delays between what you see on screen and audio heard through speakers or headphones.

The Polk Audio Signa S2 Ultra-Slim budget soundbar offers excellent value for your money. Among its many unique features are an integrated subwoofer and HDMI CEC support – making this sound bar capable of controlling both TV and soundbar using one remote control, plus support for 4K TVs!
Voice adjust technology is one of the standout features of this soundbar, providing optimal dialogue in movies and TV shows – so that no word uttered on screen ever goes unheard – as well as helping understand what is being spoken aloud, even if spoken quietly.
Many find this feature extremely beneficial when watching movies or listening to podcasts.
Although the S2 does not feature an LCD screen, its LED lights offer useful insight into your current settings and when it may be necessary to change them or adapt itself to your television set.
Furthermore, you can easily connect it via optical cable or Bluetooth and enjoy playing your music and podcasts through its soundbar!
This soundbar is compact and easy to mount on the wall or sit in front of your television, with a convenient power input port on its back.
Featuring HDMI, optical, 3.5mm, Bluetooth streaming support, and Dolby Digital soundtrack decoding capability; Movies/Music/Night Mode and Voice Adjust modes can all be set accordingly.
The 3.5mm input allows you to connect it with non-HDMI sources such as CD or Blu-ray players.
There’s also a USB port so that music from smartphones or tablets can be streamed wirelessly to it. Unfortunately, however, it does not come equipped with its own Wi-Fi receiver – therefore an external wireless router must be used instead if connecting directly to home networks.
The Polk Audio Signa S2 is an affordable soundbar designed to upgrade the quality of your television’s built-in speakers, giving you a truly immersive experience and making you feel as though you are right in the middle of it all.
Plus, its powerful stereo speakers will immerse you even further. Furthermore, virtual surround sound capabilities enable it to bring gamers even closer to the action during gaming sessions!

Sonos’ Arc is an affordable solution that delivers Dolby Atmos sound to your TV, in addition to streaming music and audiobook content from this premium brand.
It features a sleek elliptical design in matte black or white finishes and smart technology capable of automatically recognizing how it is mounted (wall or table), and then automatically adjusting its acoustics accordingly.
Capacitive volume/pause controls are located on its top while its back houses a power indicator and Ethernet port for connection purposes.
As with other Sonos speakers, the Arc makes use of Apple Airplay 2 and Alexa for voice control – making it perfect as a wireless speaker for Apple TV, Spotify or Amazon Music apps, HomeKit technology, or any other connected accessories.
Sonos app allows users to set a sound profile for their room, providing an efficient way of fine-tuning audio without touching speakers directly.
While initially it might be cumbersome, once used it’s quite effective. Arc speaker provides clear audio without breaking out to other rooms like speakers with video passthrough – however, this limitation shouldn’t stop users from adding additional content through HDMI outputs such as TV.
Pair the Arc with two rear Sonos Play:1 speakers and a Sub to create an impressive surround sound experience in your living room. The bass-driven Arc bass delivers impressive impactful audio while height channels create depth during listening experiences.
Though the Sonos Arc may be an ideal option for those in search of a Dolby Atmos soundbar, its high price point may place it out of reach for many consumers; plus there are other more economical choices available that offer comparable experiences.
LG Eclair QP5 Sound Bar
- 3.1.2ch with 320W Total Output Power
- Dolby Atmos & DTS:X
- Meridian Audio Technology
- Compact Design with Vibration Damping Subwoofer
- 4K Passthrough (HDCP 2.3) and Dolby Vision & HDR10 Passthrough
Though relatively compact, the LG Eclair QP5 still delivers an outstanding listening experience and some impressive features.
Perfect for upgrading their TV’s audio quality without spending too much money; also suitable for people who lack space as it takes up minimal room beneath their television screen; can be combined with other LG audio products like headphones and speakers for a comprehensive audio experience.
The LG Eclair QP5 boasts both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, giving you a full surround sound experience when watching movies or listening to music.
The soundbar’s bidirectional subwoofer reduces vibration for deep bass with ease. Plus, its user-friendly remote offers buttons to easily switch listening mode, volume adjustment, and bass level adjustments – perfect for movie marathons!
LG Eclair QP5 users can also take advantage of the LG Soundbar App available on iOS and Android.
It features an attractive visual interface and allows advanced adjustments to its settings; however, since it lacks WiFi, Bluetooth will need to be connected instead if they wish to utilize the Soundbar App – something that may become inconvenient while watching a movie and needing to adjust sound levels quickly.
At our testing, the LG Eclair QP5 soundbar provided some impressive audio, particularly with fast and energetic tracks like Show Me Love by Steve Angello and Laidback Luke.
However, its tuning seemed more tailored toward music listening than TV viewing, with lows that could sometimes become too aggressive.
LG Eclair QP5 features 4K pass-through and HDMI eARC support, Dolby Vision compatibility, adaptive AI Sound Pro which automatically adjusts sound output according to what content you’re watching, Bluetooth control for mobile device management, and four preset modes for music, movie, and TV and gaming – among many other things!
