OnePlus is known for creating fast, affordable Android smartphones with unique camera features and impressive specifications that have attracted performance enthusiasts worldwide.
Their 2022 flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro builds upon this reputation by adding some innovative camera functions and boasting an impressive specification sheet to attract performance-minded customers.
If you were familiar with last year’s OnePlus 9 Pro, then this phone should feel almost familiar to you. In fact, the only real change between them is an alert slider that enables users to easily toggle silent, vibrate, and ring alert modes for notifications.
Furthermore, the OnePlus 10 Pro stands out by supporting 10-bit RAW and LOG camera settings; and claims its main sensor captures more detail than an iPhone 13 Plus!
The OnePlus 10 Pro hits almost the sweet spot for big phones, feeling comfortable to hold as opposed to its taller competitor Galaxy S22 Ultra. Its matte surface resists fingerprints and smudges well; however, at 201g it might need protecting with a case for scratch- and shatter-free use.
On its front side, the OnePlus 10 Pro boasts a 6.7in LTPO2 OLED display with a resolution of 3216×1440 and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The dual color calibration ensures colors stay accurate at different brightness levels, and AI adaptive auto-brightness technology optimizes its display to your environment.
As for gaming, the OnePlus 10 Pro falls just shy of 60fps when running demanding titles like Genshin Impact but its performance isn’t too dismal given its budget price point. CPU throttling may be disconcerting at times but you can alleviate it by turning on high-performance mode in gaming settings.
The OnePlus 10 Pro represents excellent value for your money, offering outstanding camera capabilities and fast charging speed. Unfortunately, its lack of an IP rating and poor software update history should not deter you from buying this phone.
ASUS ROG Phone 5
The ASUS ROG Phone 5 is designed for gamers. Equipped with a Snapdragon 888 SOC, stereo speakers, and a high-refresh-rate screen to deliver the ultimate gaming experience, its built-in vibration motor provides feedback during gameplay while its Game Genie add-on has plenty of settings you can adjust – the ASUS ROG Phone 5 stands as the premier phone for hardcore gaming enthusiasts.
It’s eye-catching styling immediately sets it apart from other phones on the market today. Its jagged cutout for its camera and the curved edges that surround it help make it resemble an action figure, making it easier for users to identify this device as a gaming smartphone.
Asus is expanding its accessories for mobile phones to include a headset called ROG Cetra II that boasts new sound-shaping technology and high-quality DAC to produce richer sounds with improved bass.
Furthermore, its earbuds come equipped with noise-canceling microphones to reduce background noise and enhance clarity. Furthermore, AeroActive Cooler 5 will also be made available as an external cooling solution that helps lower phone temperature when subject to heavy use.
ROG Phone 5 runs Android 11 with an Asus-branded ROG UI shell, similar to Android but with gamer-oriented icons and visual design elements. While functionally similar, this interface allows for some customization with wallpapers and settings.
The ROG Phone features a high-resolution, 1080p OLED display ideal for watching videos and playing games. The ROG Phone’s refresh rate of 144Hz enables gamers to see more frames per second during fast-paced games – an important feature that helps visualize animations within games while improving gameplay performance.

If you’re in search of an Android phone that will maximize productivity, power, and photography capabilities then look no further than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
This slim and stylish device boasts some of the latest software available – making it an excellent option for anyone seeking to reduce gear while relying on their phone as their main means of work.
The S22 Ultra is a premium phone available with different combinations of RAM and storage. We recommend the 128GB model as it should provide plenty of space for most users; additionally, expandable memory can be added if additional storage needs arise.
Samsung has taken steps to reduce bloat as part of its recent revamp, although many apps remain optional and can be removed – software updates have reduced in-app ads which had become problematic at launch.
Tested during our evaluation period, the S22 Ultra rarely slowed or stuttered. It effortlessly handled multitasking across apps and zippy scrolling of long feeds and spreadsheets. Games such as Real Racing and COD Mobile ran seamlessly; photo editing in Lightroom and Afterlight felt instant.
The S22 Ultra has an exceptionally powerful battery that easily lasts all day with moderate use, including video streaming, Slack chats, reminders, music listening, and social media browsing. We conducted rigorous tests of heavy gaming as well as photo-editing which quickly recharged afterwards.
Notably, Samsung has promised that the S22 Ultra will receive major Android updates well past its initial release – far surpassing Google’s commitment to their Pixel line and giving Samsung a chance to close any gaps between themselves and Apple.
The S22 Ultra’s primary competitor is the iPhone 13 Pro Max, offering faster processing speed, more years of promised updates and advanced camera features. If you don’t require stylus functionality and large screens, saving some money by opting for one of its stablemates such as Galaxy S22 or S22 Plus could also be worthwhile.

The Xiaomi 11T Pro proves that upgrading to a flagship doesn’t need to cost exorbitant sums of money. It’s an affordable flagship with an extensive specifications list and key features that set it apart from rival devices.
The phone’s 6.67in AMOLED display offers a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision; additionally, it has thin bezels with a center camera cutout, making for one of the best mid-range phone displays we’ve seen this year.
The performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor is stellar as well. I experienced no slowdown or freezing while browsing social media or browsing websites.
A fingerprint sensor built into the power button adds secure biometric unlock capability, using 2D face recognition rather than more advanced 3D facial detection found on more expensive iPhone models. A notable highlight is the 108MP rear camera featuring a wide-angle lens, optical zoom capability, and numerous useful modes for photography enthusiasts.
The Xiaomi 11T Pro’s impressive 5,000mAh battery keeps it going all day, supporting fast charging at 120W to go from empty to full in about 20 minutes – impressive even by flagship standards and placing it at the forefront of its class.
Though boasting high-end specifications, the handset is surprisingly light and feels fantastic in the hand. Most users should find it comfortable using one hand; some may find it too long. Extended usage may cause overheating issues when playing intensive games or editing videos but this can be remedied using accessories like cooling pads.
Xiaomi’s 11T Pro stands out by promising three years of platform updates – more than what most premium smartphones can promise at present. This commitment to customers can only be seen as positive.

The Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro gaming phone doesn’t shirk from being a one-trick pony; in fact, its price may have increased since its predecessor; yet, its performance and features still provide outstanding mobile gaming performance and features gamers will enjoy.
As an excellent contender against other gaming phones like the Black Shark 4 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 5, the Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro stands tall as an exceptional mobile gaming solution.
Red Magic 7 may not be suitable for everyone; rather, its target market is competitive gamers that require high refresh rates, side-mounted shoulder triggers, and powerful hardware. Casual gamers may prefer something with better cameras and more frequent software updates as daily drivers.
Red Magic 7 offers plenty of appealing features. Its large 6.8-inch AMOLED display boasts an incredible refresh rate of up to 165Hz – the highest among smartphones we’ve reviewed – which makes a noticeable difference when playing games that support it. Apps and web browsing also run more smoothly thanks to its high-resolution display.
The Red Magic 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and up to 18GB of RAM on its Supernova variant, featuring a 64MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, and 2MP depth sensor.
In addition, this unique power-charging feature lets users plug their USB cable directly into the device rather than having to charge its internal battery – thus helping extend battery life while gaming and reduce heat generation.
ZTE does not make any promises regarding future updates of Android OS; however, an upgrade should occur eventually to Android 13.
Other gaming-oriented features of this phone include a 3.5mm headphone jack and two gaming-centric buttons built into its railing: Shoulder triggers that enable gesture controls and pressing down on the screen to activate game functions; as well as a dedicated gaming mode that optimizes the camera, audio, and system settings to give you the optimal experience; making this ideal for mobile gamers who don’t mind forgoing some camera quality or everyday functionality of flagship models.

Huawei Nova 7i is an impressive mid-range phone with powerful performance, stunning cameras, and a beautiful design. Unfortunately, Google apps are missing, though third-party APK stores and other workarounds may help. Furthermore, this device is more expensive than similar phones within its price range.
The Nova 7i is a dual-SIM smartphone offering 4G LTE connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi support, equipped with a non-removable Li-Po 4200mAh battery offering quick charging capability.
Featuring both fingerprint scanning on its rear panel and face recognition to unlock, using facial authentication for app login authentications as well as multiple other security features like anti-malware protection and virtual assistant support, this phone offers great value.
The Huawei Nova 7i features an impressive camera setup that includes four rear-mounted sensors and one 24MP front-facing sensor, producing images with sharp colors and a dynamic range that is truly exceptional.
Furthermore, multiple shooting modes such as Portrait Mode AR LENS NIGHT SUPERMACRO TIME LAPSE can also be selected – though graininess may occur from time to time depending on lighting conditions. It boasts impressive low-light capabilities though some shots may appear grainy due to limited light.
Eye Comfort Mode of the Nova 7i is another fantastic feature, making long periods of use easier on your eyes and providing relief for long hours spent staring at your smartphone screen. Ideal for any user spending considerable amounts of time using their device!
Huawei’s latest phone may not feature Leica lenses, but it offers plenty of innovative features that make it a compelling mid-range option for Aussies. From its powerful processor and sophisticated cameras to AI capabilities and an eye-catching classic design – early buyers will also enjoy exclusive freebies.

Xiaomi’s Mi 11i 5G is an impressive mid-ranger packed with power. Equipped with the innovative Dimensity 920 chipset that brings 5G connectivity and decent cameras at this price range, as well as featuring a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass that supports HDR, it boasts plenty of storage space thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor power.
This device’s camera is one of its standout features, offering an accomplished main sensor with a wide-angle lens for excellent detail capture and color balance. In low-light situations, it performs quite well, but its true strength lies in being able to capture large areas in its frame. Plus its selfie camera is pretty awesome too.
Utilizing the Mi 11i feels relatively straightforward as you can easily switch between apps while having enough juice left over for hours of gaming. Unfortunately, though, if you prefer wireless charging like its main competitor OnePlus 9 does not support wireless charging on its Mi 11i model.
The Xiaomi Mi 11i features a 4520 mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, providing full recharge within 52 minutes. Other notable features of this smartphone include Dolby Atmos-supported stereo speaker setup and Hi-Res Audio certification, creating an immersive multimedia experience.
It supports a broad selection of international LTE bands for an optimal global experience, although one feature missing from this device is microSD expansion storage capability.
This issue shouldn’t be an issue since most users only need one SIM slot at once anyway. This device remains an excellent mid-range smartphone and is highly recommended. Get yours here; our electronics experts inspect each product to make sure it works before sending it out to our customers.
iPhone 14 Pro Max
- 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display featuring Always-On & ProMotion.
- Dynamic Island, a magical new way to interact with iPhone.
- 48MP Main camera for up to 4x greater resolution. Cinematic mode now in 4K Dolby Vision up to 30 fps.
- Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos & a vital safety feature - Crash Detection.
- A16 Bionic, the ultimate smartphone chip. Superfast 5G cellular.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max may not have been specifically designed to facilitate gaming, yet it still manages to deliver impressive results in Genshin Impact.
Boasting fast RAM and storage as well as an A16 Bionic chip, it’s capable of handling Genshin Impact at high settings while remaining heat resistant despite not featuring a dedicated cooling solution that would enable longer gaming sessions.
The Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G is another great phone for Genshin Impact thanks to its power-efficient chipset and large display.
It can run the game at recommended settings without any throttling or frame drops; additionally, it features fingerprint scanning on its side, 5G connectivity, dual speakers, 128GB expandable storage, a fingerprint recognition sensor on the side, a fingerprint scanner in its side pocket and 128GB expandable memory – although its battery may not last through long gaming sessions so be sure to charge it up before starting off playing!
If you want to play Genshin Impact on a mid-range or lower-end smartphone, lowering its graphics settings to medium can give you a better gameplay experience without altering its overall look. Furthermore, this will save battery power and prevent your phone from overheating during gaming sessions.
Genshin Impact can also be enjoyed on a PC or laptop, although to experience its full potential it’s best played with a dedicated graphics card. Genshin Impact features an appealing 3D world that looks fantastic when played with high-resolution displays; additionally, it supports controllers so you can share gameplay with your friends!
If budget is an issue, opting for a mid-range smartphone with adequate CPU and GPU performance may be best. But if you have extra money available to spend on dedicated gaming smartphones is ideal; to choose fast processors as this will increase gaming performance; keep screen size and battery capacity in mind to enhance the overall experience.
