Motorola was one of the first manufacturers to recognize that budget phones should feature lighter skins, keeping these devices from feeling cumbersome.
All of Motorola’s standard features – such as quick access lock screens that offer full notifications and contextual quick replies – can be found here; plus there’s even an inbuilt fingerprint sensor making unlocking and starting use simpler than ever.
The G Power’s biggest weaknesses are its 50-megapixel camera, which struggles to capture much detail and its lack of Near Field Communication for mobile payments.
While these may not be dealbreakers for most, if you want an NFC-compatible 5G phone or want better camera capability you will likely have to spend more money elsewhere.
The G Power 5G is an attractive budget smartphone, yet its competitors in the sub-$300 segment provide stiff competition. Google Pixel 6a remains an outstanding value with top-tier support and stunning camera quality.

Google’s budget-friendly flagship, the Pixel 6a is here! Replacing its predecessor from last year which only launched in a select few markets, this device provides improved screen, cameras, battery life, and software updates with premium design features such as stereo speakers.
Pixel phones are known for their industry-leading cameras, and the 6a is no exception. It captures some of the best pictures ever seen on mobile, particularly Portrait mode where it excels at distinguishing subjects from backgrounds and defining edges effectively.
Furthermore, its 8MP selfie camera delivers some outstanding shots as well.
As with other Pixel devices, the 6a features a glass back constructed from top-tier materials, providing an enjoyable hand feel and lightweight body design.
It has a two-tone display with a camera bar along its top edge for taking photos; plus, there is a fingerprint reader in its power button as well as Google Assistant on its left side screen for use.
At this price point, however, some compromises must be made: its screen only supports 60Hz refresh rates, there’s no wireless charging feature and battery recharge times may not match those offered by its competitors.
Furthermore, only one SIM card slot is supported at any one time which could present problems if using multiple networks simultaneously.
Even with these drawbacks, the Pixel 6a remains one of the top phones for less than $500. Ideal for Android fans and is built to outlive other smartphones. Expect it to continue running at least for several years after purchase – far longer than any average lifespan for smartphones!

The OnePlus N30 5G can be purchased for $264 from T-Mobile or from OnePlus, Amazon and Best Buy unlocked to use with different carriers – making it one of the cheapest 5G phones on offer in the US and certainly worthy of consideration if budget constraints are tight.
While slightly more costly than Google Pixel 6A (in terms of price tag and support life cycle), its lifespan will only last another two updates and one year of security patches; by contrast, support for N30 5G should continue for four years more.
Even at its affordable price point, the N30 5G still feels like a premium phone. It features a large 6.72-inch LCD display with a minimal bezel at the bottom, running OxygenOS 13 on top of Android 13 for quick and responsive operation.
Under our testing, the N30 5G handled games like PUBG Mobile without any hiccups or issues, while battery life lasted two full days of usage before needing charging again.
If you’re after something better, the Moto G Power 5G (2023) may be your ideal budget smartphone with its Snapdragon 625 processor and 13-megapixel camera.
Furthermore, its day+ battery life and support for faster 50W charging make this an attractive option; but unfortunately, it lacks a fingerprint sensor or NFC functionality, while camera performance doesn’t match that of Nord N30 5G’s camera performance; additionally, it weighs more.
