Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II represents a significant improvement over their predecessor. Not only are they smaller, lighter, and more comfortable to wear for extended periods but come equipped with a superior carrying case – they’ve even managed to reduce size!
The case is designed for convenience with its compact form factor that easily slips into any pocket. Inside you’ll find your buds charging up on an IPX4-rated charging dock, along with a USB-C connection on the back for charging purposes.
Your case features an automatic connection of the earbuds and will immediately start voice prompting with information on battery status, mode toggles, and more.
In addition, each earpiece features a small Shortcut control button at its base which by default triggers noise cancellation options (Quiet, Aware, and Transparency) or can be programmed to activate either one or both buds’ built-in voice assistant.
Bose products have long been revered for their superior audio quality, with each earbud adapting sound waves to your ear canal for natural and immersive playback.
Furthermore, their noise cancellation technology and ActiveSense mode offer class-leading noise mitigation. Both features provide valuable awareness when needed in everyday situations.
Unfortunately, the QuietComfort Earbuds 2 lack some key features found on rival products in this price range – such as multipoint audio pairing or wireless charging capabilities – that could make these headphones increasingly compelling to consumers.
Furthermore, these buds do not include an option that pauses playback if one bud is removed from your ears or when taking calls simultaneously.
However, over-the-air firmware updates have already helped address some of these deficiencies, with independent single-bud use now possible and the “Remember this Device” feature on the app enabling switching between two previously paired devices without multipoint support.
We hope Bose continues to refine their QuietComfort Earbuds 2.

Google took a chance with its Pixel Buds Pro earbuds featuring active noise cancellation, its first set featuring active noise cancelation.
Following their failure with Gen 2 models, these newer ones fully address Bluetooth issues as well as provide longer battery life, superior audio quality, and provide excellent noise cancelling capabilities.
The Buds Pro features large external microphone openings to minimize wind noise, with beamforming mics on each earbud to pick up voice pickup.
They also come equipped with a customizable touch panel enabling volume adjustment and “Hey Google” command control as well as standard silicone tips packaged inside an attractive pebble-shaped case that opens with a satisfying snap for wireless charging.
My testing showed that the Pixel Buds Pro were both expansive and detailed, boasting an impressively wide dynamic range. Subtle details could easily be distinguished – like Underoath’s Voyeurist drumming or gritty distortion from guitars; they’re even great for use when listening to acoustic music and podcasts!
One feature I appreciate greatly about Pixel Buds Pro is its ability to set priority for multiple Bluetooth devices, allowing you to switch seamlessly between phone calls and audio content such as videos on tablets.
When a phone call comes in, audio will switch away from video playback to focus on answering it – then switch back once the call has ended! You can manage this behavior through their app; however, only one priority at a time can be set at any one time.
The Pixel Buds Pro’s touch controls are excellently useful, enabling you to easily raise or lower volume with just a swipe of each earbud. I really like that they provide this feature – it should be standard on more headphones!
Furthermore, through their app, they enable users to remap touch-and-hold commands, use an ear tip seal check, remap touch-and-hold commands as well as use an ear tip seal check function, and more!
The Buds Pro’s battery life is estimated at 11 hours with Active Noise Cancelling enabled and up to 14 hours without. That makes them among the longest-lasting earbuds available at this price range, while Qualcomm aptX and Sony LDAC codecs for Bluetooth streaming improve audio quality further.

This true wireless pair features a sleek case that easily slips into any pocket, superior battery life, and an enjoyable default sound profile; additionally, they boast impressive noise canceling technology which often falls short on similar products.
These stylish earbuds boast a classic button shape with tasteful metallic accents for a classy aesthetic, are comfortable to wear for hours at a time, and feature intuitive touch controls with fast response.
Unfortunately, their lack of stems may make seating them properly in ears more challenging; finding an optimal fit might require several attempts before finding it consistently over multiple listening sessions.
Ambient mode does not completely block out outside noises; however, this is common with true wireless earbuds and should not be seen as an issue before purchasing these headphones. It shouldn’t make much of a difference either way though so just be aware of this before making your purchase decision.
If you want to block out ambient sound, tapping on the left earbud opens the Sony app and allows you to customize how much noise cancellation and ambient sound you would like in any given environment, such as home or work; as well as tailor it per activity if necessary.
While I found this feature less convincing than AirPods Pro’s version, it remains useful nonetheless.
At any point during a call, the voice quality was outstanding. These earbuds support Hi-Res audio via LDAC technology to increase data transfer speeds and decrease latency compared to standard Bluetooth.

Liberty 3 Pros stand out with their support for wireless high-resolution audio via the Sony LDAC codec, providing improved clarity and fidelity over standard AAC codes; however, your Android phone must support this feature for it to function.
Install the Soundcore app on your smartphone to configure and access most of its features, including customized touch controls and activating 3D surround sound mode for immersive listening experiences.
In addition, this app also enables you to change EQ modes and activate noise cancellation with active noise suppression – and allows you to disable features like wearing detection which pauses music playback when the buds are removed from ears.
I found the Soundcore app to be highly flexible, but there were some peculiar quirks I noted when using it to adjust volume levels on earbuds – such as delayed responses when tapping to adjust them or even missing taps completely! Pulling them out of their case could also disconnect an ongoing call without notice, creating another frustration factor.
Although the Soundcore app provides plenty of options, its initial navigation may be slightly daunting. Once familiarized, however, its intuitive design quickly becomes easy to use – ideal for customizing earbuds for a perfect fit!
I particularly enjoyed being able to control my phone’s voice assistant through Liberty 3 Pros – although this does add a slight delay that may prove distracting for some users.

Music-wise, the Jabra Elite 7 Pro offers an outstanding audio performance with great frequency response consistency and balanced bass levels that don’t overshadow or distort other elements in the mix.
Lead vocals and instruments sound clear and intense; lead vocalists don’t overshadow them either! However, its default EQ may not sound quite as natural as those of its competitors.
The Elite 7 Pro’s battery is top-of-the-line as well, boasting up to eight hours of continuous use – which is slightly above average among true wireless earbuds and impressive considering ANC is often activated when listening to music or on the move.
There is even a quick charge feature that lets you get one hour of playback in just five minutes!

However, their touch controls may prove challenging at first but can easily be customized via their companion app.

Samsung headphones have never quite convinced this veteran headphone reviewer of their audio quality, but the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has been an impressive surprise.
Not only do they boast an impressively wide frequency response and deep bass response; but their open, full sound also brings details into each song that adds musicality and nuance. While not quite matching Jabra Elite 7 Pro’s clarity of sound, these offer ample low-end depth.
The Active Noise Cancelling technology does an admirable job at filtering out ambient noise, though it’s not perfect; you will still hear low mechanical rumble from passing vehicles or subway trains.
Furthermore, the earbuds do allow some high-frequency sounds into your ears that require practice to find the optimal balance between environmental noise and the ANC technology. Our tests revealed that ANC was effective in quieting 50Hz sounds by 15dB!
Touch controls work smoothly, rarely misinterpreting single or double taps. With the Galaxy Wearable app, you can easily configure how you control your earbuds, assigning digital assistants such as Spotify Connect or volume to each earbud and more.
Double tapping an edge of either earbud also activates hands-free calling with voice command answering/rejecting phone calls and hearing notifications – perfect for answering/rejecting phone calls hands-freely while hearing notifications!
Intelligent Conversation Mode is one of the Buds 2 Pro’s stand-out features, making conversations easier while listening to music or podcasts.
Once enabled in the Galaxy Wearable app, this feature will automatically switch your buds into Ambient sound mode when you speak, similar to Sony’s speak-to-chat function – I found that it worked very well in my testing.
You can also set them to remind you to stretch every 10 minutes so as to prevent text neck, which is a serious condition caused by long periods spent sitting at computers or in front of screens.
